Hi there!
If you’re reading this, either myself or a friend shared this page with you. These photos were shot in Seattle during the peak of the 2020 wildfires and in Talent, OR in December 2020, almost four months after a fire destroyed a majority of the town. All of the photos were shot on 35mm film.
My goal is to publish a zine that speaks to the impacts of the worst wildfire season of our lives thus far. I am looking for poets and writers who would like to contribute pieces they have written about the wildfires to the zine. My original idea was to pair each photo with one poem, but I’m open to short stories as well. I will narrow these photos down to the best 10-15, so I’m looking for roughly 10-15 writers to contribute work.
If you are a poet or writer and would like to contribute a piece about your experience with the wildfires, please email me (austin.gsmith@comcast.net) with the subject line “Wildfire Zine”. If you know other people who might be interested in this project, feel free to send them the link to this page.
Thanks so much for taking the time to view these photos. I hope to hear from you soon <3
